Tooth extraction services

There may be situations in which a tooth or teeth must be removed as part of an orthodontic treatment. Regardless of the reason, it is highly likely that you will be referred to one of our skilled oral and maxillofacial surgeons, who will perform the extraction(s) in the office.

Exposure of impacted teeth

It is not uncommon for teeth, apart from wisdom teeth, to become impacted while trying to emerge through the gums. The good news is that many of these teeth can be re-positioned instead of being extracted. When your oral surgeon collaborates with your orthodontist, it is often possible to bring the impacted tooth through the gum and into its correct position in a procedure called “expose and bond.” During this process, our specialist will uncover the impacted tooth and may attach an orthodontic device to it. Sometimes these devices may be connected to the patient’s braces. Gradually, the orthodontist will guide the tooth into its proper position.
